Smart epoxy coating with mesoporous silica nanoparticles loaded with calcium phosphate for corrosion protection

Calcium phosphate was encapsulated into mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN). The effect of pH on the structure and morphology MSN release calcium from investigated. Epoxy coatings with (3 wt%) non-encapsulated wt% 5 were formulated their anti-corrosive performance evaluated by open circuit potential (OCP) electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. Results showed that encapsulation as inhibitive pigment in coating can enhance preventing spontaneous dissolution controlling pigment's coating.
